Raquel and Daniel met in 2016, the old-fashioned way, through Tinder. Neither of them really remembers what caught each other’s attention to swipe right, but Raquel does remember talking about Star Wars for most of their first date at Toronado in the Haight.

After a couple of false starts and pretending that they were “just friends” that hung out every weekend and wore matching Bears jerseys, they made it official and moved in together to quarantine for only two weeks of the pandemic. Many months, a few fancy dinners, and a couple of trips later, including one to Pamplona to meet Raquel’s family, Daniel proposed to an unsuspecting Raquel at midnight on New Years Eve in Oaxaca, Mexico. She obviously said “oh my god whaaaaaat????? Yes!!!” and since then has also become a true UNC fan by watching them crush Duke at Final Four.
